Conero abbeys
Around mount Conero it is possible to see two famous abbeys. The first is Santa Maria abbey, in Portonovo, a small Romanic building of the XI century amid olive trees built with the white Conero stone. On the top of Conero, on the other side, there is San Pietro al Conero abbey, whose first news date back to 1038. The abbey, even undergoing numerous changes throughout the centuries, is nowadays a beautiful architectural example.
