Senigallia, crossed by the Misa river, was founded in 284 b.C. The Romans created the Sena Gallica colony and from this denomination it is in fact possible to obtain the name of Senigallia. The Roveresca Fortress is maybe the most important interesting historical element of the town, as it is a continuous overlapping of defensive structures. In front of the fortress, important signs of the presence of duchi Della Rovere, there are the duke palace and the fontana delle anatre (ducks fountain). Senigallia is also famous for its long sand coast thanks to which it is called velvet beach. Walking along the seaside, it is possible to see the Rotonda a mare, inaugurated in 1933, born to become the reference point of the worldly life and tourism activities of that period.
