- Falconara Marittima is on the north part part of Ancona, near the Esino mouth. The commercial development of the town occurred above all in '900, thanks to the growth of the railway station and tourism. Nowadays Falconara represents a modern centre along the coast, characterized by a long sand coast equipped for relaxing and amusing holidays. In Falconara there are 4 castles: the castle of Falconara Alta, built by the counts Cortesi, the fortress of Rocca Priora, built when Federico II of Svevia was born, the castle of Castelferretti, by Francesco Ferretti, and the castle of Barcaglione, of which only a small portion of the tower remains of a fortress with a surface of 2500 square meters.
